This international standard can be used for certification, registration and/or self-declaration of an organization’s Energy Management System (EMS). To any organization concerned with its energy performance and energy savings, it is a tool that allows the efficient management of energy in a permanent, planned, measurable and continuous improvement way, instead of isolated energy efficiency actions.
The ISO 50001 standard aims to solve the reduction of energy consumption, which has the following benefits:

ISO 50001:
- Specifies requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system, the purpose of which is to enable an organization to follow a systematic approach to achieve continual improvement in energy efficiency.
- It specifies requirements applicable to energy use and consumption, including measurement, documentation and reporting, design and procurement practices for equipment, systems, processes and personnel that contribute to energy efficiency.
